Flashnet® powers LoRaWAN™ IoT challenges during Transylvania MegaHack 2016
The hackathon’s IoT Challenges will use LoRaWAN™ infrastructure provided by Flashnet® – Cluj Napoca, November 11-th, 2016
11-th of November 2016,
Iulius Mall, Cluj Napoca: Cluj TechFest is an umbrella event, hosting a series of activities dedicated to all those passionate about technology and innovation in the region. MegaHack is the first event during TechFest this year and it invites individual programmers and programmer teams to address real-life challenges, from real-life companies during three days of nonstop coding.
The challenges are launched by more than 20 entities (private companies, public organizations and NGOs), targeting to better integrate technology into their daily business and activities. The entire initiative targets to improve services and even new product development from several domains of activity: Digital Banking, IoT & Embedded, SmartCity, FrontEnd, E-commerce, Gaming, E-Gov, Datathon, Testing, Security and an NGO Challenge.
Flashnet was invited by Tech Academy Cluj to fill two important roles during the Cluj Napoca event: providing the LoRaWAN™ infrastructure necessary to deploy Internet of Things applications and offering technology advice and support for the programmers. The technology utilized in a LoRaWAN™ network is designed to connect low-cost, battery-operated sensors over long distances in harsh environments that were previously too challenging or cost prohibitive to connect. With its unique penetration capability, a LoRaWAN gateway deployed on a building or tower can connect to sensors more than 10 miles away or to water meters deployed underground or in basements.
The LoRaWAN protocol offers unique benefits in terms of bi-directionality, security, mobility and accurate localization that are not addressed by other LPWAN technologies. These benefits will enable the diverse use cases and business models that will enable deployments of large scale LPWAN IoT networks globally.
About LoRaWAN™
