Allround interoperability environment for smart & connected IoT solutions: Flashnet becomes member of the uCIFI Alliance
Following the TALQ2 certification for inteliLIGHT, obtained earlier in 2020, Flashnet continues its commitment to promote and provide open IoT solutions for smart cities and utilities.
When choosing open or proprietary solutions, nowadays there is a clear preference for openness, integration and interoperability. The reasoning behind it is quite clear – a future-proof solution has room to evolve and can survive in today’s dynamic, fast-paced technological environment.
According to Smart Cities World, “despite multiple IoT industry alliances and specification consortia, cities and utilities are still suffering from a lack of full interoperability when it comes to connected solutions including smart streetlights, smart waste, smart parking, smart environments, smart water or smart grids.”
In this context, uCIFI proposes an alternative solution: let’s all speak the same language. How? By developing a unified data model for all smart city objects, reducing the need for proprietary API integration and translation of data payloads into more relevant smart city information. The uCIFI data model provides interoperability and interchangeability between IoT devices from various suppliers and is compatible with any IoT network including LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, as well as proprietary IoT networks.
“At Flashnet, we have always stayed true to our open philosophy. Always on the look for new integration and interoperability opportunities, Flashnet has become part of the uCIFI Alliance. This is part of our efforts to provide our customers with a future-proof solution, using the most modern and effective technologies.” Lorand Mozes – Flashnet CEO
According to the management, the company’s open vision aligns with that of the uCIFI Alliance: open source, multi-supplier, cost efficient. Key benefits are:
- Enabling interoperability and preventing vendor lock-in
- Reducing integration and solution costs
- Openness to future network and solution evolution (future-proof)
- Ability to tackle all Smart Cities and Utilities use cases
